#1: High Crotch (Head Outside Single)
The high crotch is one of the most iconic shots in a wrestler's repertoire. It's very important and will be used throughout your entire career, so it's a good idea to get proficient at it. It's a single leg shot that ideally leads to a double. Your right hand will shoot to the left leg, or vice versa. Either way, your head will be on the outside of the body, while having your outside knee up, referred to as the "drive leg".
While we're taking this shot there are many different ways to finish it. It's important to continue adjusting throughout your finish. This can be done by going to other moves, moving your knee forward so it's still under your body, or by changing direction. No good wrestler is going to just fall over for you, they will react. What you do with their reaction will dictate how easy it is to finish.
High Crotch, High Single
When you first get into the high crotch, you can drive to the right using your head for pressure to push his center of gravity over to his right leg, making the left leg a lot lighter. This will make it easier to pick the leg up into a high single. The ankle should be under your left arm pit, with your left arm wrapped all the way around, hand high on your chest.
Your head will be on the outside of his body, your drive leg (left leg) should be up so you can start to push off of it to put pressure on your opponent to the right. This will keep his weight off of you and allow you to move on with this series.
High Crotch, Sprawled On
When your opponent sprawls, his body weight will be on top of you and his feet will move away from you. This will extend your body and start to make you stretch out, pulling you to your stomach. You will have to make a choice, do you continue with the shot or do you let it go and get out of dodge.
